To celebrate black female beauty with a tight mix of sexy celebs, urban fashion and the hottest video vixens. Occasionally, I will mix in some others flavors but whether light or dark, black is my color.
SKANNING
I get a lot of emails asking what scanner I use to do my thing. There are no shortcuts. The fact is it’s not about the hardware. Any flatbed scanner (no printer/scanner combos just a scanner) over $100 will get the job done. The difference is time and effort. The rest is trial and error with a mix of color correction, retouch and caring.
HISTORY
In 2004 I got into skanning because all of the HQ, Hi-Def skanz I was seeing on the internet were done by Europeans. Aside from Beyonce all they were skanning was skinny, white chicks. I love Beyonce as much as the next but being the token black girl on celebrity boards just didn’t seem right. After a lot of trail and error and wanting to drop kick my scanner, I finally got the mix right in 2006. This blog has been kicking it since April 2007 and with your help keeps getting better.
Things are better than ever for skanning. There has been an explosion of urban men’s magazines as well as some solid black women’s magazines like Jewel. I will miss the good mags that didn’t last (Suede, Vibe Vixen) but there’s still plenty of eye candy on the shelves.
